In a concert of genre ground-breaking North-South-East-West fusion, Autorickshaw, the Penderecki String Quartet, and The Elora Singers present a kaleidoscope of styles and genres from ancient to modern. From Indian classical to vintage Bollywood, jazz to folk to Indo-inspired originals, this collaboration brings together centuries of classical music traditions from both the east and west.

Autorickshaw
Autorickshaw’s music lies on the cultural cutting edge, as contemporary jazz, funk and folk easily rub shoulders with the classical and popular music of India. They have been recognized with two World Music Album of the Year JUNO nominations, a Canadian Independent Music Award and a John Lennon Songwriting Competition Grand Prize in World Music.

Penderecki String Quartet
The Penderecki String Quartet’s performances demonstrate their “remarkable range of technical excellence and emotional sweep” (Globe and Mail). Described by Fanfare Magazine as “an ensemble of formidable power and keen musical sensitivity,” the quartet champions music of our time, performing a wide range of repertoire from Haydn to Zappa as well as premiering over 100 new works to date. They are Quartet-in-Residence at Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, Ontario.

The Elora Singers
The Elora Singers, under the direction of Mark Vuorinen, has established an international reputation as one of Canada’s finest professional choirs. The Elora Singers is the ensemble-in-residence of the Elora Festival each summer, in addition to presenting a regular concert series, producing recordings, and touring across Canada and internationally.
